Lend a helping hand to restore Phoenix’s historic Miracle Mile along McDowell Road to its former glory! April 21st from 7:30AM to 11:00AM we’re hosting the Miracle Mile Earth Day Cleanup where you’ll have the opportunity to strengthen this community by gardening, trash picking, community building and more along McDowell Road from 10th Street to State Route 51. Check-in will take place 7:00-7:30AM at the Trellis office located at 1405 E. McDowell Road. More details available here
The Great Cloth Diaper Change + Earth Day Event (GCDC) –
Believe it or not, this is actually a big draw as far as events go. Make a statement for sustainability & join The Great Cloth Diaper Change on April 21st! At 11 AM, all guests will participate in a simultaneous diaper change in honor of Earth Day. Prizes will be offered including swag bags, raffle prizes, and Mystery Boxes for purchase. To participate in the official World Guinness Record, you must abide by the following rules:
- Each cloth diaper changer must be 18 years of age or older.
- The baby/child being diapered must be 39” tall or shorter.
- Each participant pair must be one changer matched up with one baby/child.
- The clean diaper must be 100% reusable and commercially available.
- The change must happen exactly at 11am. No late changes are counted.

Get outdoors and join hundreds of riders on Earth Day for this fun-filled FREE Glendale tradition! All ages and skill levels are welcome. The leisurely ride highlights Glendale bike lanes and pathways and showcases cycling as an affordable and environmentally friendly transportation option. All riders must wear a helmet. If you need a helmet they will be available at the event or recycle your old helmet for a new one while supplies last. Bike check-up station, bicycle safety information, health and wellness booths, music and kid’s activities at the park before and after the ride. The first 500 riders that register and attend will receive an event t-shirt and all riders that complete the ride will receive a keepsake medal!

This event is part of LDV’s 10 Year Celebration since the first grapevines were planted. Learn about LDV Winery’s sustainable agricultural practices, participate in planting some grapevines, tour the winery with the winemaker, and adopt a grapevine. What is Earth Day, and what is it meant to accomplish?
Close to 48 years ago, on 22 April 1970, millions of people took to the streets to protest the negative impacts of 150 years of industrial development.
In the US and around the world, smog was becoming deadly and evidence was growing that pollution led to developmental delays in children. Biodiversity was in decline as a result of the heavy use of pesticides and other pollutants.
The global ecological awareness was growing, and the US Congress and President Nixon responded quickly. In July of the same year, they created the Environmental Protection Agency, and robust environmental laws such as the Clean Water Act and the Endangered Species Act, among many.
